In a bold move that will undoubtedly stir up the privacy advocates, facebook will allow customer list-matching of email addresses & phone numbers in order to offer targeting to your customers via their platform. Marketers can now take existing customer lists obtained in other methods (ie. offline, online, lead gen, etc…) match them up to the facebook audience, and target those customers via facebook ads. This sounds a bit like the press release that caused the initial privacy debates (Doubleclick announcing they were purchasing Abacus to marry offline data with online targeting). Put your seat belts on… the privacy debates just went into overdrive.
